New, Bilingual Website Shows More Of Te Papa

Te Papa's new, bilingual website is now up, offering users greater insight into the Museum's activities. It features more in-depth information about Te Papa's collections, an easy-to-use 'What's On' calendar, and a special area for children. The new, interactive site allows visitors to delve deeper into the collections. Recent acquisitions are highlighted, as well as ongoing research projects, and individual areas of staff expertise. Visitors can also access Tai Awatea | Knowledge Net, Te Papa's online multimedia database, through the site. Tai Awatea contains in-depth information about individual collection items and exhibitions. Kidszone is an interactive area for children which features educational games and information on child-friendly exhibits and events. The new site also includes online shopping from Te Papa Store and Images, Te Papa's image library, and booking forms for a number of Te Papa services including functions, StoryPlace and educator-led programmes.

'Creating a bilingual website is a relatively new concept, but one that demonstrates Te Papa's ongoing commitment to bi-culturalism,' said Te Papa's Chief Executive Dr Seddon Bennington. 'We are very proud of our new website and the enhanced level of detail it provides on our collections, research, exhibitions and events.'
